The Basics

• Our regular weekly worship time is every Sunday at 10:00am

• There is a small parking lot next to our "Fellowship House" building, and ample street parking on Farragut Ave.

• Worship takes place in the sanctuary - the brick building close to the traffic light. If you've parked in the parking lot, you can get to the sanctuary by walking through the Fellowship House foyer (glass doors) and out the other side. The sanctuary building will be ahead! 

• Many congregants dress casually, while others find it meaningful or fun to wear their "Sunday best." You will be welcome in anything that you want to wear!

• A paper Order of Worship is available at the entrance. It lists all the parts of the service in order, with words for readings we say together and the hymn numbers to find the music we will sing in the hymnal.

• The rack on the back of the pew in front of you will have a red hymnal to sing the hymns, a blue Bible if you'd like to follow along with the readings, and empty envelopes you may use for your offering.

• Our order of worship is grounded in the Reformed tradition, centered around God’s Word heard in scripture and interpreted through a children’s message and a sermon.

• Each worship service is structured in four sections: Gathering, Listening to God's Word, Responding to God's Word, and Departing. 

• The order of worship indicates times when we stand with an asterisk (*) and parts that we read together with bold text.

• The Passing of the Peace is a part of the service where we greet one another with hugs, handshakes, fist bumps, or peace signs. It is part of the "Responding to God's Word" section and symbolizes how we respond to God's love by reaching out to others. If you are visiting us for the first time, people will be excited to greet you!

• We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of each month. All are welcome to participate, regardless of age or church membership. We typically offer both traditional bread and a gluten-free option for those who need it, and the cup contains grape juice.

• Our music includes a variety of styles — traditional and contemporary hymns, Taize-style refrains, spirituals, classical piano and organ music, and more. Our space is often used by local musicians for community events, and those musicians sometimes come to share special music with the congregation, with styles ranging from jazz to bluegrass to choral music.

• Worship is followed by a time for conversation, with coffee and refreshments. This takes place in the Fraser Room of the Fellowship House, except in summer when we have Lemonade on the Lawn - right outside the back of the sanctuary.
