WORSHIP

  • Our regular weekly worship time is every Sunday at 10:00am

  • We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of each month

  • Our order of worship is grounded in the Reformed tradition, centered around God’s word heard in scripture and interpreted through a children’s message and a sermon

  • Our music includes a variety of styles — traditional and contemporary hymns, Taize-style refrains, spirituals, classical piano and organ music, and more. Our space is often used by local musicians for community events, and those musicians sometimes come to share special music with the congregation, with styles ranging from jazz to bluegrass to choral music.

  • Worship is followed by a time for conversation, with coffee and refreshments.

lectionary

Service of the Vanderbilt school of Divinity

The first time Jesus sat down to this meal, among those gathered there was one who would doubt him, one who would deny him, one who would betray him, and they would all leave him alone before that night was over – and he knew it.

Still, he sat down and ate with them.

If he ate with them, surely he’s ready to eat with us.

You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to be sure.

You don’t have to be a member of this church.

You don’t have to be a saint.

All you have to be to eat at this table is hungry for "the medicine of immortality."

All things are ready; come, taste, and see how good God is!  God will do the rest.

- from All I Really Want: Readings for a Modern Christmas, Quoted by Quinn G. Caldwell, possibly via Pastor Emily Brown, Hastings on the Hudson First Reformed Church, w/slight edits by yours truly. St. Ignatius of Antioch (d. 108 AD) called this meal the “medicine of immortality.”
